Guatemalan Spanish language schools are considered among the best in the world, and the principal ones are located in Antigua. The total immersion method was invented in Guatemala. It includes conferences, films, sports, excursions and discussion groups. At present there are 62 registered Spanish Schools.
Religious Tourism
Holy Week in Guatemala city and Antigua is one of the most mystical and profound experiences in life. The processions, the imagery, the candlelight vigils and the sawdust floral carpets are a framework for the celebration of the most important week on the Catholic Church calendar. Another point of interest is the historical place of work and the home of the miracle worker Saint Hermano Pedro de Betancourt, canonized in 2002 by His Holiness Pope John Paul ll for his compassion and unconditional support for the sick and the neediest. Hermano Pedro de Betancourt teaching endures today: “Remember brothers that we have a soul and if we lose it, we can never recover it” His history and legacy are traced through 15 different sites in Antigua Guatemala.

Its Textiles are comparable to Asian textiles and are one of our greatest treasures, a true reflection of our historical and cultural wealth. There are many shops, not only in Guatemala city but also in Antigua, Atitlán, Quetzaltenango with of this type of merchandise from the most purist to the most modern and evolutionary. Of course there is also a conventional shopping, where the best known brands are to be found. |
